Contest Moderators:

Every Halloween, there are contests for Art and Poetry, but we all know Halloween is about the dressing up and getting candy or scaring the crap out of people! Putting time and effort into a costume and then showing it off is what this contest is all about!

Please read the [#RULES] and the [#THEME] before entering!

Rules:

1. Costumes must have been put together and designed by YOU.
No store-bought (definition of store-bought further down) or rentals. That's cheating, since it had nothing to do with originality on your part.

2. Maximum THREE (3) pictures per person.
They must all be of the same costume. If you wish to submit makeup pictures along with it they have to be one of the three pictures.

3. No pictures of someone else's costume.
The picture must be of your own costume. The only exception to this rule is when parents created a costume for their child.
Pictures of your pets in costumes are not admissible, because we don't encourage dressing up your animal for your own amusement.

4. A drawing of a costume doesn't count.
Anyone can draw a costume up in less than ten minutes. But If it's the drawing of what your costume is based off of, it's allowed, but it counts for one of the three pictures you're allowed to upload. This is only allowed if you already have a photo of the same costume uploaded.

5. Must be a Halloween costume for this year.
We don't want some Cosplay costume you wore two years ago, unless it's the same costume you wore for this Halloween.

6. Entry must be uploaded to Elftown.
To upload your image full-size you can use the feature 'Upload a folder of images' that is shown on your house.
This feature allows you to upload one, multiple images or zip-files in their original size to a wikipage.

Please Note:
- #1: Asking people to vote for you is against the rules! Although you may advertise the Main Street Poll or public poll page in your mood, diary, or house, it is against Elftown Official Competition rules to directly ask people to vote for you or influence people to vote for you through use of public wikis, diary entries, messages, in your mood, etc..

- #2: If you feel any of the entries break the rules, please speak up before the entries make it to the polls. You can still speak up even after the contest is closed, as long as the polls have not yet gone up yet. Complaints received after the aforementioned will not be considered valid.

Two (2) winning images will be chosen.

Twenty (20) Halloween images will be picked out by the Council and the Assembly among all those presented and a Public Community Poll (Main Street or Poll Page) will tell the winners.

Participants will receive special Costume Designers' badges and the winners will receive coloured versions of the same.

Store Bought Costume Definition
A Store bought costume is the type you get at Walmart, already sown together and all you have to do is put it on, maybe add a cape and wig and voila! The only way a store bought costume is allowed is if it's been modified enough to actually look like some effort was put into the costume.

Home-Made Costume Definition
Either sewn by you, or modified versions of other cloths to make a costume. Knick Knacks from one store, a mask from another, a shirt here, some tape there, spray painting something and taping it together to turn it into something completely new. That's originality! And that's what this competition is all about.

2008-09-24 [james2777]: ya cappers is very much involved with our family twice a year he go`s to shea stadium with the new york mets and walks the field and i made the jersey, ya i know a guy that can sew ha the world is comming to an end but i learned it in school and an elective so might as well use it

2008-10-23 [Flisk_girl]: I have a wee bit of a problem. My costume won't be finished until the 30th, and I'm leaving home on the 29th. I won't be back until the 3rd, but still want to enter. What should I do?

2008-10-24 [Stratakus]: I'm sure it's going to take some people more than a few days to get the pics of heir costumes uploaded. Then we'll have to give people time to vote so I suggest we give people a week to upload their photos before the voting starts. Isn't that how we always do it?

2008-10-25 [Elisha Kelly]: okay. I see that there are make up and costume sections. Is it possible to enter both? and if you are able to enter both does it have to be the same costume?

this has not been made clear in the rules. And someone suggested that if you do enter both, that votes will be divided in two or something.

clarfication on this would be appreciated.

2008-10-26 [Jitter]: I asked and it eventually has to be the same costume. So you can either submit just 3 images of makeup under "Makeup" or the costume and make up under "Costume" :)

2008-10-26 [Rat Hacker]: Okay I don't know it this would qualify, probably not. Since I don't have a lot of money and not really any experience with sewing. I wanted to be Two-Face from the new Batman movie. I had clothing that I either previously wore and still have that is actual articles of clothing that I had gotten over the time of living. The things were bought, but not as a set.

As I said I highly doubt that would count, but that is why I am asking.
