Sketchy Characters Competition II: Sorrow

Great Entries Everyone!!

The Objective

This contest has many similarities to the orginal SCC contest. I want to see these mysterious characters that hide in the shadows.. the rogues.. the assassins.. those who are just a legend and most do not believe exist. The focus is the character(s). Background is not important, although you can add it if you want. I'm looking for these characters in black and white.. or perhaps coffee and white (inside joke from the original SCC). I want to see these sketchy characters sketched - these shady characters with shading.

A new twist, however..
I want the peice to give us a look into the emotions of this character. Art is a powerful thing and can convey powerful emoitions. Sorrow, although not initally attributed to such characters as these, is a human (or other race) emotion that all experience. Heck, it may be sorrow that led these characters to be "sketchy".

The Rules

NO STEALING ART!!! (Do I need to even say that?)
Give me something new. (I don't want to see old peices from old competitions)
Nudity is ok, as long as it is tasteful and artistic
Limit of two entries per person
Collaborations are fine, be sure to give credit to both artists
Medium: Charcoal, Graphite, Ink, Conte crayon, hot beverages (any other like medium.. just ask me.)

Tamli holds the lifeless form of his betrothed, grief-stricken. Someone murdered her on the day of their wedding, one of the winged race from my RPG. It tore Tamli up inside. Later, he would call himself Sallen and take revenge on the race of the one who killed his beloved.

My half-elven character Raeke when he was a young man living in 18th century China. He had been sent on an errand by his master, an old doctor and had been gone a week. The day he arrived home, he found his true love Finara just slain by an evil Tao master who had come to challenge the young man.
I'm in the process of redrawing the background for it so patience please. ^_^

I know a pregnant woman seems an unusual choice to sketch, but moments of great joy are also the ones that can bring us unimaginable sadness. This woman has found an omen in a dead bird and now truly fears for her child.
Turned out more melancholy than openly sorrowful, but there you go.
