The creation of the evil pirates came about when I decided to give the good pirate captain, Sandy the collie, a sister. I was going to do a picture of the sisters together but I never added Sandy into it, so Carmen was the result of my effort on that picture. After she was drawn the evil pirates were born. Each pirate has her own wiki, so feel free to comment on them if you like!

2005-06-19 [Ace118]: meh

2005-06-19 [Adnama]: Boo. :3

2005-06-20 [Paz]: hello all. Conversation seemed to have ended XP.

2005-06-20 [Paz]: btw, Adnama are there anymore pirates almost finished?

2005-06-20 [Adnama]: I've been feverishly working on a picture of Vincent from FF7. x_x; I need to get that done before I do that, because I'm sure I'm already extremely late on the contest I'm entering it in. :x

2005-06-21 [Ace118]: Oh no good luck in that [Adnama]

2005-06-22 [Paz]: Alrighty, just wondering. I'm getting an illustrator soon as well as a graphics tablet... any suggestions on what I should look for?

2005-06-22 [Adnama]: What you should look for? :o Well, Wacom tablets seem to be the best and I've had one for about four years and it still works well. :3 As for computer programs, it's really up to the person using it. Once you get your tablet, go download some trial versions of different programs to see which ones suit you the best. Some names to look for would be: Photoshop, Painter, Adobe Illustrator, CG Illustrator deleter, Paint Shop Pro, Open Canvas. Those are some of the ones I know. I know Painter is extremely expensive though and I wish I could get a hold of the program myself. *sniffle* ;-; It's supposed to be godly. But anyhoo, try that out and experiment a bit. ^_^

2005-06-22 [Paz]: Okay, I'll see what I can accomplish. I have photoshop Elements already but i can't use it to save my life. I was thinking of getting CG illustrator Deleter. I've heard some great things about Paint Shop Pro. though. So I keep looking. Thanks.

2005-06-22 [Adnama]: Paint Shop Pro and CG Illust are what I use. :3 I use CG Illust for most everything though. Photoshop is much too complicated for me to learn to use. I like doing things from scratch and all the special jank on that program gets in the way. X3

2005-06-22 [Paz]: lol, I draw everything from scratch then either use markers or coloured pencils to colour it in, or just leave it as is. Photoshop is confusing as you said. All I can do is make things neon XP. Although I have Photoshop Elements and not the full photoshop, which is equally confusing anyway. I only use the paintbrush, occasional filter, blur tool, and paint bucket for small things. Other than that I just kill my art T.T My issue with these products is their cost.

2005-06-22 [Adnama]: Ah. CG Illust runs around $60, Paint Shop Pro is about $100, Photoshop is about $400-500, and Painter is in the upper hundreds or maybe in the thousands. x_x Those are the only prices I know. Open Canvas is much like GC Illustrator, so it shouldn't be much more than that.

2005-06-23 [Ace118]: cool

2005-06-24 [Paz]: I think I'll go with CG Illust because it's the cheapest. I'll get photoshop through my highschool and I have Photoshop Elements. I have no money @_@! So I think I'll go with the cheapest one. Is CG Illust easy to use?

2005-06-25 [Adnama]: Easier to use than any other program I've ever come across. ;3 However, it doesn't have fancy filters and stuff. It has a few drawbacks, but they're not major, and are easily overshadowed by the program's awsomeness. :3

2005-06-25 [Ace118]: wicked

2005-06-25 [Paz]: yea, I could use filters from photoshop elements. I never really have much need for them since all they do is mess up the picture I mainly use the contrast/brightness thingy. As long as it's easier than photoshop I'm fine. But layers is the main problem since they never seem to work.

2005-06-25 [Paz]: Ack! So much ar ttheivery on ET lately. I've reported I think three people today >.O

2005-06-26 [Adnama]: See. That's the problem with photoshop. Things don't work sometimes and have to be "turned on", and unless you read a novel's worth of program instructions, you won't know how to turn it on. :P I say 'eff it. X3 --I haven't been on ET lately. :x I've been scooting around all weekend to do things I need to do before my birthday Monday. XP I'll be 20. ;-; *is old*

2005-06-26 [Adnama]: Oh. Wait. There was another reason I came here. XD I just uploaded a new sketch for Patch. :B

2005-06-26 [pixish]: :-P You will only be old in Elftown years ^__^

2005-06-26 [Ace118]: will your only as old as you feel

2005-06-26 [Paz]: Happy birthday Ajay!  I can't make heads or tails of Photoshop elements which is supposed to be simpiler(sp?) than Photoshop but not really. It's pretty much the same deal only not as many 'tools' to work with. Not that I can even use the available tools anyways! Some people on ET can use it though.... I'd rather just get something to make my life easier.

2005-06-26 [Adnama]: Heh. But I feel extremely old already. In a mental sense, morso than physical. :) But anyhoos, thanks for the happy birthday wishes! :B

2005-06-26 [Paz]: welcome, don't feel that old. You aren't that old. You're not quite the drinking age so consider that as oldish which makes you younger.

2005-06-28 [Ace118]: awsume

2005-06-28 [Paz]: Something to that confusing effect. At least your younger than some other people here in ET. (I've seen those who are over 50 @_@)

2005-06-29 [Adnama]: Hehe. I suppose. ^_^ And I think there's a member in Anthro Lovers that's in his 50's. :3

2005-06-29 [Paz]: I've seen a few who are over 50. I never thought there would be people that old here. Most of the people seem between 14 and 30 XP. I finally ordered a CG program and a graphics tablet. Thanks for all the help Ajay. ^-^

2005-06-30 [Ace118]: ?

2005-06-30 [Paz]: I need people to vote on this poll. What I draw from it will be the tester for my CG program: <poll:55708>

2005-06-30 [Adnama]: I picked other. ;3 I'd like to see some fanart from "Read or Die." :B Agent paper is the sheeot. With her abilities to manipulate paper, there are tons of possibilities for a fanart piece. *nods*

2005-06-30 [Adnama]: But now that I think about it, that might be a bit hard to test something with. x_x; Nevermind.

2005-06-30 [Paz]: Naw, I'll see what I can do. If I don't get a lot of votes for 'Read or Die' then I most likely won't do it. I'm up to skectching it though maybe not colouring....

2005-06-30 [Adnama]: I don't suspect you'll get many votes for it, but it was a suggestion anyway. ^_^

2005-06-30 [Paz]: I'll draw it anyways while I'm on vacation and have nothing better to do. Just to give it a shot. If I fail then I do.... I guess. Then when I do get better at colouring in CG programs I'll make it coloured. ^-^

2005-07-01 [jaderii]: I know you were talking about this earlier, but I'm late and slow sooo here's my question.: If there is Adobe PS 9.0 for $60 and Illustrator for $50, which would be better to get? Keeping in mind that I'm slow and it takes me a while to understand overly complicated things.. x.o

2005-07-01 [Paz]: Photoshop costs a lot more than that! If I remember correctly from what Adnama said, it costs at least $600. CG Illustrator costs $57 dollars plus $7 for shipping (at least on the website where I got it). Ask Adnama, which is the best to get I have yet to recieve mine and she's very good at her colouring skills :3

2005-07-01 [jaderii]: The Adobe versions at our store costs hundreds of something, but the one I found only costs $60 something. =] Which is a good deal! But it's hard to choose, for I don't know anything about these programs. - I'll ask her as soon as she gets on if she's not busy. ^_^

2005-07-01 [Paz]: never heard of a cheap version.... I only have Adobe Photoshop elements so I can't be much help

2005-07-01 [jaderii]: That's what I have too. =P I have Adobe PS Elements 2.0..

2005-07-01 [Paz]: I have the newest 3.0 but it still doesn't make it less confusing!! I'm about to get it again with my graphics tablet XP, but it'll be version 1.0. *curses* Still I love the neon filter

2005-07-01 [jaderii]: Chyaa, I'm a filter junky! I love those things. =P That's the best part of my 2.0. Ack, I'd have to download the program all over again if I wanted it on my tablet??

2005-07-01 [Paz]: lol, I don't know if you have to re-download the software to work with the tablet. I hate most filters because they mess up the picture too much. Neon and lighting are my favs.

2005-07-01 [jaderii]: Ahh, I see. ^^ I love 'em all. Well, most of them at least. I just discovered how to load new brushes. =P

2005-07-01 [Paz]: I can't do anything with mine. Layers, to comfusing! PS elements is on my dad's computer which means I can't download anything. I will with my version though

2005-07-01 [Adnama]: The only thing that I can think of that Adobe makes that's $60 might be Elements or maybe Adobe Illustrator. I don't know much about either program though. :x However, I can tell you that you won't have to redownload art program software when you upload your tablet software. The software that comes with the tablet is just the drivers for the hardware, so it has nothing to do with the program you use the tablet with. The tablet should work on all programs in the same fashion. :3

2005-07-02 [jaderii]: Ohhhoho, I see I see. ^.^ Thank you! Now all I have to do is buy all this stuff. XP

2005-07-02 [Ace118]: me to ><

2005-07-03 [Ace118]: oooo I gat some news.....................

2005-07-04 [jaderii]: What kinda news? o.o

2005-07-05 [Ace118]: I going to get paint shop pro

2005-07-05 [jaderii]: Neat. =3 The newer version.? If they have any.. o.o; *doesn't know anything about Paint Shop Pro*

2005-07-05 [Adnama]: I think the newest version is 9.0. :o

2005-07-05 [jaderii]: For Paint Shop Pro? Or the Photoshop?

2005-07-05 [Adnama]: Paint Shop Pro. :3 I think Photoshop is up to either 7 or 8.0.

2005-07-05 [jaderii]: Ah, I see. ^^ - Eek, I'm so excited! My tablet should arrive on Saturday. I won't leave the house until then. x3 But the sucky part about the tablet is that it only comes with PS Elements 1.0. x.x So I have to be thinking on which program I want to get. And I don't like having to think too much.

2005-07-05 [Adnama]: Well, if you don't like to think much, then you definately don't want Photoshop. X3

2005-07-06 [jaderii]: I'll scratch that one off the list then. xP Which is the best thing to do because I still don't fully understand 2.0. o.o;;

2005-07-06 [Adnama]: Well, I can't recommend programs that I don't like too much, so I'd have to recommend CG Illustrator. Paint Shop Pro (PSP) is weird because when you draw freehand, the lines are choppy and not smooth. I've found that Photoshop (PS) does the same thing. CG Illust however has very smooth lines, an excellent blur feature, and is extremely easy to use for people of all skill levels. PSP and PS are really for the more advanced digital artist, PS the most though. I only use PSP for text, resizing, cropping, a few filters, and internet formatting, but I use CG Illust for everything else.

2005-07-07 [jaderii]: I don't want choppy lines, that'just make me stuff look even worse than it already is. XD So CG Illustrator it is. :3 And I think I found one somewhere online. -- 'Cause EBay has everything.

2005-07-07 [Ace118]: I dont know

2005-07-07 [Ace118]: I am geting paint shop pro 9 with coala pad

2005-07-07 [jaderii]: What's a coala pad?

2005-07-08 [Adnama]: Well, if you want the site for CG Illust: It's pretty hard to find on google search now, so I guess I should have provided it from the start. x_x;

2005-07-09 [jaderii]: That does help! XP Thanks for the link and all that help! I bet you get these sort of questions eeevvveeerrryyy day. :P

2005-07-09 [Adnama]: Well, I get'em every once in a while. :3 But you're welcome. X3

2005-07-10 [Ace118]: cool

2005-07-10 [jaderii]: ^___^ I have to keep bugging my mom. Otherwise she'll forget to get it.

2005-07-11 [Paz]: I finally got the tablet and CG Illust. I ordered :D But my comp. doesn't have enough diskspace *is sad*. *waves to everyone* Hello, everyone!!

2005-07-11 [Adnama]: XP *waves* You can always take off things you don't need to free up some space. :B That's what I used to do before I got my own computer. :3

2005-07-11 [Paz]: My dad set up the hard drive wrong, so it has to be fixed. We had literally only 9MB of ram on the C drive XP. We used most of it for DSL and Windows stuff. I'll be getting a lab-top in Sept. So there's my disk space! The Tablet works. But paint is my only option right now XD

2005-07-11 [Pnelma Tirian]: paint + tablet x Pnelma's Opinion = FUN!

2005-07-11 [Ace118]: [Adnama] you did not like my picture did you I tried :.(

2005-07-11 [Paz]: What picture?  So many difficult things in an illustrator. I was up all last night reading the manual five times.

2005-07-11 [Paz]: HAHA! I finallt installed the program! *dances* Beat that stupid comp.!

2005-07-11 [Adnama]: :O! I didn't know you had finished. I was having a crisis with my pet and needed to take it to the vet, so I've been rather busy all weekend.

2005-07-12 [jaderii]: Aww. Is it okay now?

2005-07-12 [Paz]: What happened? Adnama can you help me? I can't figure out the layers, how did you use them for your anthros?

2005-07-12 [Adnama]: It turned out to be fine for the kitty. ^_^ The details are in my diary. -- And as for the layers. If I scan a drawing on white paper and want to use my pencil lines, I make the drawing my top layer and make it into a multiply layer. Then I make standard layers underneath to color on. Try it out. X3 It may not make much sense the way I told you, but just do it like I said and you'll see that it works. If you want to do a completely digital piece, I always make an outline sketch as my top standard layer and use other standard layers beneath it to color. The addition layers add lightness and the subtraction layers take the complementary color of the color you're using to make a shadow.

2005-07-12 [Adnama]: So, with the subtraction layers, if you're using a blue for the base color, the shadow will be orangish when applied. Make sense? :3

2005-07-12 [Paz]: No, Sorry I am a bit confused. I just love the effect you got with the anthros. Wish I could do that. I'm trying it out right now to see what makes sense

2005-07-13 [Paz]: How do you make the effects on your pictures as it is?

2005-07-13 [Adnama]: I explained it as best I could before. x_x I don't exactly know what the problem is. Are you trying to draw from scratch or color a scanned sketch?

2005-07-13 [Paz]: scratch. I was just playing around with the tools. It's so hard to draw right on the computer @_@. I'm a nivice at this but it's starting to become clearer and clearer. I can already work some effects such as gradient. I think I'll stick to scans as best as I can

2005-07-13 [Paz]: How do you make the layer into a multiply layer?

2005-07-13 [Adnama]: On the layers window, click in the box beside calculation to change a layer from standard to multiply. And make a new layer as a multiply layer, just go to "layer," then "Create MUL Layer." :B

2005-07-14 [Paz]: okay, thanks. Sorry about all these questions (Paz is so confused! She doesn't mean to annoy!) It's just you know so much about the program and I can't do much with it. Just one last thing.. (don't hurt me!) How do you get the effects in the way you colour?? I mean not the layering but how do you create the effects you use in the colouring process.

2005-07-14 [Adnama]: Well, my personal shortcuts and effects are a bit hard to explain, but I can give you a tip to help you out a lot. :3 You see the little box with "Preserve transparency" next to it? If you click that, anything that you drew on the current layer will be locked and you'll only be able to color on what you drew on that layer before you locked it. It helps for when you want to color in like... the skin on a character and don't want to worry about going outside the lines. If you color it all in and lock it, then you'll be able to color without worring about being so precise. But to get some other effects, I play with the size of the tools and play with the opacity of layers.

2005-07-14 [Adnama]: I don't usually use the watercolor brush, but I use the other four for everything. And if you double click on the white square that shows the size of the brush when you use the air brush, you can select different types of points so it can be thinner, thicker, etc. I usually save lots of different brush sizes on each tool for easy access, because you have five places to save a brush on each tool, so they might as well be used. :3

2005-07-14 [Paz]: alrighty, thanks a bunch. I'll see what I can make of your helpful hints ;) I appreciate on how patient you are with me

2005-07-15 [Adnama]: It's no problem. ^_^ I just hate it when people ask me how to use Photoshop, when I say all over the place that I don't use the thing. xP

2005-07-15 [Pnelma Tirian]: Hey, Adnama! How do you use 3D Studio Max? XP

2005-07-15 [Adnama]: ;-;

2005-07-15 [Adnama]: I wish I had that. >_>.. Or Maya 4.0. Alas, I do not have $4000. D:

2005-07-15 [Pnelma Tirian]: O.O I have it. I have no idea how to use it. It just sort of sits there on my desk with all the other cds I never use.

2005-07-15 [Yncke]: Adnama: There's a free Maya Personal Learning Edition.

2005-07-15 [Paz]: lol,  I'de never ask you how to use photoshop since only about 5 people in the US can use it in its' full. I myself detest the program Photoshop elements, which is supposed to be 'simplier' than Photoshop. Easier my butt!

2005-07-17 [Adnama]: Maya doesn't work on Windows ME, which conveniently is my operating system. :P So far, I haven't seen any 3D rendering programs that work on my system. ;-;

2005-07-17 [Yncke]: Not even Blender? ( (Which, I fully admit, has a strange interface, to put it nicely)

2005-07-17 [Paz]: I have no idea what is going on

2005-07-18 [Adnama]: I forgot about that one! :o I did get Blender. x3 I just haven't figured out how to work with it yet. :x

2005-07-18 [Paz]: I was looking at that... muy confusing!! @_@

2005-07-23 [Paz]: Adanama I have yet another question (I'm pathetic) How do you create the words and letters you use on wikis (ex, here) and etc.?

2005-07-24 [Adnama]: There is a T in the tool menu. That is the text feature. :3 Just make a new layer, click where you want the text to go, a window should pop up to where you can type what you want. Then click on font in that window, pick your font, font size, bold, italics, etc. and when you've got what you want, hit the Ok's and then you're done. :3 Putting it on a seperate layer leaves it able to be moved around.

2005-07-24 [Paz]: ohh... so you add the effects to the already typed letters?

2005-07-24 [Pnelma Tirian]: MY question is, how do you get the transparent background? Make it so that you can put it on any page and it won't stand out from the rest of the background. How do you do that?

2005-07-24 [Adnama]: Effects? o_o In CG Illust, you don't get any text effects. :x You can make the text, lock the layer, and just color the text, but other than that, there are no text effects. I do all my text stuff in Paint Shop Pro. :o -- As for making transparent images, I'm not clear on how to do that myself. Look in the links section of Elftown Graphics for instructions on how to do it. I think I remember seeing something like that there. :3

2005-07-24 [Pnelma Tirian]: thanks! ^^

2005-07-24 [Paz]: thanks ^-^

2005-07-24 [Ace118]: I got Paint shop pro how the..

2005-07-25 [Paz]: ?

2005-07-25 [jaderii]: H00ZAH! Jade has Open Canvas now! :3 I have no idea what I'm doing, but at least I have it.. XD Need to find tutorials on this thingy.

2005-07-25 [Paz]: Everyone, including me seem to have gone out to buy new illustrators, how dandy is that

2005-07-25 [Adnama]: I should be a sales-woman. xD

2005-07-25 [Paz]: You'd be quite rich :P  I should learn to use these products so I can be quite rich XP..... that's not going to happen anytime soon

2005-07-25 [jaderii]: Nuh-uuuhhh, not everyone. ;.; *sniffle sniff* Not me! ..My mom says I have to wait until my birthday. Which is about 17 or so days from now. :D But I have trouble counting, so don't take my exact words for it.

2005-07-25 [Paz]: I have to wait to months for my birthday so be happy

2005-07-26 [Pnelma Tirian]: I've been celebrating my birthday since February.

2005-07-27 [Paz]: I've been looking at the pirates and have noticed that a lot of them have very tight clothes.... how do people stand to wear tight clothes!? @_@

2005-07-27 [Adnama]: Well, when you're on a ship with all kinds of cranks and sharp edges, tight clothes would be most practical. Especially if you're doing a lot of movement. :3 Baggy clothes would get in the way and could get caught on things. :B

2005-07-27 [Paz]: That would be true ^-^ but I still can't stand them. Your pirates seem to enjoy them greatly @_@ and that's awesome for them ;)   I was just stated a random fact

2005-07-28 [jaderii]: Everyday is pretty much a non birthday. Minus the pressents and confetti. // Hoohoohoo, you're so smart [Adnama]! That makes a lot of sense.

2005-07-28 [Adnama]: A small bit of history on clothing: Back when the world was industrializing, people worked around large machines with very few saftey precautions, and they also wore what they normally wore at home. Guys wore long ties and baggy long sleeved shirts, and the ladies wore bonnets, dresses with baggy sleeves. Now that was a disaster waiting to happen since the clothing easily got caught in the equipment, especially men's ties, and usually resulted in death or being maimed. So it became manditory for only the managers to wear ties since they never went near the machines. And the tie today symbolizes a person who doesn't get their hands dirty or do manual labor. x3

2005-07-28 [Adnama]: Ack! D: I feel like the history channel. ;-;

2005-07-28 [jaderii]: W0W. o.o I never new that.. lmao T'is good to be the history channel! You can enlighten those of us who have no clue about the history on clothing. Like me. :3

2005-07-28 [Pnelma Tirian]: Most cool!

2005-07-28 [Paz]: lol, I can care less as long as they're confortable ^-^. But leave it to you to tell me that in a detailed definition... lmao. Very nice

2005-07-29 [Adnama]: x3 Yus! I prefer baggy clothes too. They are more comfortable. :B

2005-07-29 [Paz]: very so ^-^ Makes me wonder how people wear those tight pants @_@! They look very painful!

2005-07-30 [Adnama]: Waha. :B Stretchy fabric... stolen from the future. >_>... :x Or not. xD

2005-07-30 [jaderii]: Extremely tight pants aren't painful.. If you don't sit down. XD I'm a person of comfort, though I sometimes say I'm a "slave to fashion". >.> (Gothic Lolita, my addiction and obsession!) I may be a lover of fashion, but it has got to be comfortable. I want to be able to sit down without my pants sliding down my behind, flashing all those in sight, causing them to become blind. x___x;;

2005-07-31 [Black_Dragon_123]: 0.o

2005-08-01 [Paz]: Well if you wear a belt or have hips (As I do) Your baggy clothes shouldn't go that low. Or you could just wear a long t-shirt or a very baggy sweatshirt. Whichever comes first :)

2005-08-03 [jaderii]: Ahah, I just realized I rhymed! xP // My baggy clothes don't. I was talking about tight pants and such. ^^

2005-08-04 [Paz]: Tight pants are icky!

2005-08-04 [Black_Dragon_123]: that's cool. You rhymed!! Yay!

2005-08-04 [Paz]: Rhyming is bad and rather odd....

2005-08-06 [og_ghost]: Yeah, you're an odd guy, odd guy.

2005-08-07 [Paz]: Once again, conversation has gone 'splat'!

2005-08-07 [Black_Dragon_123]: Who's an odd guy?

2005-08-07 [Black_Dragon_123]: OOOOH! IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE SHOULD BE AN "ANTHRO PIRATE RP" OR "ANTHRO PIRATE STORY" OR SUMMAT!!!!!

2005-08-07 [shadow of darkness]: TOTALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!! that is pure genius!

2005-08-07 [Black_Dragon_123]: Thank you. ^^ Wouldn't that be awesome?

2005-08-07 [shadow of darkness]:

2005-08-07 [Black_Dragon_123]: 0.o So you definitively concur. Cool.

2005-08-07 [Paz]: It's up to the creator but hey, it's a cool idea. But I'd wait until the characters are finished being coloured in ;)

2005-08-08 [Black_Dragon_123]: Maybe... I'll run it by her, k?

2005-08-08 [Paz]: go ahead

2005-08-08 [Black_Dragon_123]: Ok.

2005-08-08 [Paz]: I wonder if Adnama's going to actually create this series. It has some very awesome characters, all it needs is a plot of sorts

2005-08-08 [Black_Dragon_123]: yeah...

2005-08-09 [Adnama]: I'm hoping to eventually, but I'm a horrible creative writer. D: After I get a steady job someplace and get some funds, I'll have to find someone. :3

2005-08-10 [Paz]: You should try some of the manga companies like Tokyopop. They publish almost anything. Or some comicbook companies, if you're going for the comic side of things. It's not that hard really to come up with a plot. Believe me I've had to come up with quite a few ;) Just come up with an overall general plot which makes up your basic story background and build up the characters and settings around the plot. You can also add side stories that have really no point but can throw in some comical effect ^-^

2005-08-10 [Paz]: I can try to help you if you'd like. Consider it as repay for all the help you've given me with my illustrator ;)

2005-08-10 [Black_Dragon_123]: I still think that there should be an rp.

2005-08-10 [Paz]: -_-'

2006-05-21 [Dark Necromancer]: That must be fun.

2006-06-26 [og_ghost]: un-enlightenmentism is always a source of great joy for all involved.
