This is a list of fantasy creatures, monsters, beasties and critters in alphabetical order. Each of them has been created by the minds of Elftown's artists, authors, or fans of popular fiction works (Please remember your APA Formatting, Fans!)
Despite being open for any and all contributions to the Creature Pages, there is a system that we use here on the List:
- Each creature gets its own page and description section.
- Any passwords MUST BE deleted before changing ownership (see next rule), allowing for better management of the list.
- All pages should have their ownership changed to [Angel Dreamer], the owner and moderator of the List. If you do not like this rule, TOUGH COOKIES, because we need to be able to make changes to the pages too!
- MOST IMPORTANTLY: If you do add anything to one of the descriptions, kindly leave a message at the bottom of this page saying what you did.
- If you want to add a creature that is not already here, you must follow the above rules OR message [Angel Dreamer] with the name of the creature, a description, and where the information came from.
These creatures and beasties are most useful for those involved in story-writing, and in the Wiki Fantasy Roleplay, part of the WFR Creative Writing and RPG Guild.

2007-01-09 [Hedda]: Generally it's a bad place to start the work. Those wire frames suck badly if you can't write the information in all the places. But it's good to make the pages steal ideas from each other and have about the same format. But no "no history about this creature is written yet", and similar non-informativ We have Pegasus which makes a pretty useful rule-model to use for other pages. But the pages still have to be written. Then it's pretty easy to reformat them, if needed.
2007-01-09 [Linn Scarlett]: I ment it more like, maybe make three rough groups in which information is given, or in the general same line basics-specifi
2007-01-09 [Hedda]: I'm not against that, but I'm afraid that we'll get pages that only describe non-existing information. The format used should be the standard used on all wikis (as in: All wiki-systems, not only Elftown):
Title
The main image, if any.
A short text describing it.
A more extensive text or links to sub-pages.
Links to related wiki-pages and external sites.
The sub-pages could of course use the same ideas on many different pages, but it's not needed. If it's pegasus history but dragons in the history don't really matter. The ones writing on the creature pages should probably adjust the normal standard to their specific creature, or to the information available.
2007-01-09 [Hedda]: Most importantly: There should be no sub-pages or sections without information!
2007-01-10 [xido]: Thank you, Hedda, and yes, that is VERY helpful. This page will soon be revamped in full, so we will have the most rockin beasties page on the web. ;)
I love the discussion on the serpent idea. I did not know that I would set off a discussion like that. It is nice. It reminds me of my school discussions, which makes me happy.
I have begun going to each page and both watching it, and making notes of what is and is not included on it, and all pages will be reformatted to take on the new title, The Creature List, as per recommendation

2007-01-10 [Linn Scarlett]: *cheers* tell me when I can do some work *leans on shovel*
2007-01-21 [Angel Dreamer]: samodiva added
2007-01-22 [xido]: To Linn: Feel free to add any content you wish to any current pages, and if you add a new page, please add it to both this page and The Creature List, as both will be utilized for full access to this List. Also, both links should be placed on the Creature Pages, for easy access.
2007-01-22 [xido]: Angel, my darling, could you change the page for Non-Elftowners to Comment on the page? I added keywords, and that should make it even more approachable by web viewers too. ;)
This page will continue to be the main page until the other one is completely renovated to be formatted (bullets based on content, keywords added, etc.) All Creature Pages will say:
'Back to Creature_List / The Creature List'
2007-01-22 [iippo]: So instead of making up your mind as to what page you want to use for real, you'll make the workers update two pages instead of one (not to mention having to add the new linking system to all the creatures wikis), make the watchers get update notices for the same thing twice and scatter the information and conversation in the comments across two pages? >.< I know it feels cool to keep the final wiki hidden until you've worked out the kinks and such, but in all honesty it's a bit... annoying. Why can't you just pick either wiki and close the other one? >.<
2007-01-22 [Angel Dreamer]: If all of the creatures are on The Creature List, I don't see why we shouldn't just update it and take the main list of creatures off of here. It's a self-confessed work in progress, and if Teh Internets don't like it they can deal.
2007-01-23 [xido]: To iippo: The creatures will only be listed in full on The Creature List when all is complete, and this page will be a welcome mat, with rules and info on it, plus the links to hop over to the main list page. This page will keep all the creatures on it until each page is analyzed for how much and what kind of content it has on it (bullets designating that info are on the other page).
I was told by Hedda that all pages like this should remain open, active, and appearing as complete as possible until they are finalized. That is why the list of creatures is still posted here until all pages have been looked at and bulleted, based on their content. I am doing it that way because this page is the one currently listed as the main page. And no, after all is finished, mods will only need to add creatures to The Creature List, while this page will be exclusively informational.
Please be patient with me. This is a long process. :/

2007-01-23 [Lady of Lore]: I have a question on the beasties and things we can have in the list, where can we get thier descriptions etc of them? I mean what are sources that are credited that we are allowed to use? From books such as The Shanarra series by Terry Brooks, Abhorsen by Garth Nix....etc... as well as the monsters included in Forgotten Realms books? Sorry if what I'm saying is a little confusing...th Ex. In the Garth Nix books there are creatures called Stilkens...a shape changer of sorts who has the arms of a praying mantis, the face of a beautiful woman and the teeth of a very hungry scary bug... but the Stilken has only been used, as far as I know, in Garth Nix's books so may be his original idea...would the Stilken fit here or would it be a violation of a copyright or something.
Thanks
[Lady of Lore]
2007-01-23 [xido]: PS to Angel - we do not have to add the * or italics to this page anymore. All of those (outdated) tags were removed on the other page, to be re-evaluated and bulleted. ;)
Sorry, to interrupt without answering, [Lady of Lore], but I am not sure the restrictions of definition that Angel considers a "fantasy" creature, so long as it is not from Star Wars.... But then, does that count as fantasy too, or simply Sci-Fi?
2007-01-23 [Angel Dreamer]: If it does not actually exist in the real world, then it belongs on this list. The 'normal' animals on here are included based solely on their magical/mythic
2007-01-23 [Lady of Lore]: Hmm....guess I'll wait and see what others say. Thanks xido.
2007-01-23 [xido]: You must have both commented at the same time. Lady, I think she answered you pretty fully there. ;)

2007-01-23 [Lady of Lore]: Lol, cool then. I'll gather up info on the Gath Nix creatures then ^_^
2007-02-02 [Lady of Lore]: Alrighty, Stilken's done and i sent the info and citation to Angel Dreamer ^^ More creatures to come.... Is it better to make a page ourselves or send the info in a message?
2007-02-03 [Angel Dreamer]: It's best to send it, really. The message I got was perfect :)
2007-02-04 [Lady of Lore]: Ok, great ^__^ I shall continue to follow that method then/
