Greetings, and welcome to Elftown's official Christmas Poetry Competition!

<img400*0:stuff/2237_wiki_help_9y7vcgcflr5.jpg>

This contest to open December 2009!

Contest Moderators: [Kaimee] & [Cillamoon]

Please read the [#RULES] and the [#THEME] before entering!

Rules:

1. Poems must be written by Elftowners and posted here by the original author.
Which means, no matter how much you might like a particular poem on somebody's house, you are not allowed to add it here without the writers permission. Poems also must be written in English. Limit is 2 entries per person.

2. Length:
Since the chosen five poems will be featured on Main Street, we wouldn't like them to be too long. Anywhere from 8 to 50 lines is acceptable. Be creative but please keep that in mind!

3. Subjects:
Submissions for Daily poems on Mainstreet are usually not accepted when they feature violence, disturbing actions or insults.

4. THEME: Christmas Lights: What Lets Your Light Shine?

Poems not following the theme will be removed.

Please Note:
- If you feel any of the entries break the rules, please speak up before the entries make it to the polls. You can still speak up even after the contest is closed, as long as the polls have not yet gone up yet. Complaints received after the aforementioned will not be considered valid.

/Thank you - The Elftown Council and Assembly.

2007-09-25 [Ece-Deost]: Wasn't the theme for last year's competition snow?

2007-12-05 [A.M.C]: Where do we send the poems to once we've done? :)

2007-12-05 [Linderel]: You put it on Christmas Poetry 07, page 1.

2007-12-06 [Aldalome]: Does it have to be a christmas carol, or is it allowed to be about elftwoners singing carols?

2007-12-06 [Lady of Lore]: it would be a carol that would be sung, so a carol about carols I think is alright because there are some christmas songs like that...

2007-12-07 [Lite]: Can you create a carol to the theme/tune of an already existant song and alter the lyrics?

2007-12-07 [Doormat]: I miss the days where there were no themes :P.

2007-12-07 [Linderel]: There's more challenge this way!

2007-12-07 [Lady of Lore]: It's better if you make up your own rather than parody an existing song.

2007-12-13 [Lite]: Whaddy'all think of my poem? If it isnt funny, I tried...

2007-12-26 [Aldalome]: Go to Mainstreet, news, and scroll down: the winning poems are in the Daily Poem slot, right above the featured member slot.

2007-12-26 [Misty Lady]: Congratulations and very well done to the winners...great poems and well deserved....luv Misty xx

2008-01-05 [~Ninja Dark Kitty~]: so who won?

2008-01-06 [Tickle Me Emo]: At the risk of sounding pushy, when do we get our badges? Normally I wouldn't ask, but seeing how the art and poems have already been removed from Mainstreet, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything...

2008-01-06 [Linderel]: It sometimes takes a while due to people being busy in real life. Don't worry, you'll get them. :P

2008-01-07 [Doormat]: Does the new page one wiki mean we can submit for next year's competition?

2008-01-07 [Linderel]: Uh, no. It is merely readied for this year.

2008-12-03 [Ariel123]: Is there going to be a New Years' poetry competition? I think it would be fun!

2008-12-03 [Linderel]: Well, there is a New Years Day Festival - not official, per se, but you might still enjoy it. :)

2008-12-30 [Grandamelf]: I love my colored birdie, Thanks everyone!
