Greetings, and welcome to Elftown's official 'Desktop Design' Contest!

This contest is closed!

Images must be created by Elftowners and posted here by the original artist. Which means, no matter how much you might like a particular image on somebody's house, you are not allowed to add it here. This includes random images from the net too. MAKE YOUR OWN DARN IMAGES, DON'T STEAL THEM AND TRY TO CLAIM THEM AS YOUR OWN! That makes us angry, very angry indeed.

Please put forth your best effort and the best quality, i.e.
- no drawings on lined notebook paper
- no pictures or bad scannings of your drawings
- drawings must be new. That means you may not submit a drawing you have made before this contest or one that was submitted to another contest already.
- drawings must be well shaded and/or coloured and have some type of background. Sketches will not be accepted.

Ask [Sunrose] or [Charybdis] for wiki-privs if you don't have them already; members who follow the uploading art rules, and thus are not troublemakers, will be granted these privs. See advanced help for more information about privs.

Since the winners will be featured on Mainstreet, images that depict graphic violence, pornography or other disturbing actions will not be accepted. Only images that fit the theme will be allowed.

All mediums, except photography (and/or manipulations) and animated GIF's, will be accepted.

Because the images must be usable as desktop-images, they have to be the proper size:

The ratio of the image must be 4 (width) by 3 (height).
The minimal size the image must be is:

Width: 800 pixels
Height: 600 pixels

Other examples of useable sizes are:

Width: 1024 pixels
Height: 768 pixels

Width: 1280 pixels
Height: 1024 pixels

The assignment is: Design a background image for your desktop.
The theme is: Forest

What is a Desktop?
The desktop is the background behind all your windows, menus, and dialog boxes on your computerscreen: your virtual desk.
The desktop image on the background is also referred to as 'wallpaper'.

Images not following the assignment and theme will be removed.

30th of September

Ten images will be picked out by the Council and the Assembly among all those presented and a Mainstreet poll will tell the two (2) winners.

Participants will receive a squirrel badge, and winners will receive a coloured version of the same (or a green/coloured Masters of Building if they are commited art donors).

2006-08-08 [Sunrose]: The theme is forest, you can do anything you like as long as it's clear that you're doing something with forest :)

2006-08-08 [Stray Kitty]: Okay, thank you.

2006-08-09 [Kuehne]: I usually do graphite or charcoal work. Will they be accepted?

2006-08-09 [Sunrose]: Yes :)

2006-08-09 [Kuehne]: cool!! *takes out a stick of charcoal and gets to work*

2006-08-10 [lady nytmare]: Oooooh. Interesting.

2006-08-14 [XxTsomexX]: awesome! i'll try this, too^^

2006-08-20 [Here today]: May I point out that there's a contradiction in the rules as it reads "The ratio of the image _must_ be 4 (width) by 3 (height)" and still 1280x1024 is accepted, which is 5:4 actually:)

2006-08-31 [dj-sean]: Did you kno you can check elftown on your cellphone?!

2006-09-01 [Paz]: Yes if it gets internet connection like some do now :3 Since most internet connections are through phone lines

2006-09-04 [O! Valencia!]: can the desktop drawing be line art, or does it have to be coloured in some form?

2006-09-04 [iippo]: "Shaded or coloured and have a background" says the rules. So if you do a shaded line art, or shade with lines (line crosshatching or so), I think it should be ok. It must look finished, and I think line art can look finished if done as line art only.

2006-09-08 [Dirty DaVinci]: surrealism allowed? I mean, as long as a forest is included...

2006-09-08 [iippo]: Yes of course. :)

2006-09-08 [Dirty DaVinci]: Exccellleeennntttt....thank you :)

2006-09-11 [Hedda]: On Elftowners resolutions, you can read what kind of resolutions Elftowners use.

2006-09-24 [Dirty DaVinci]: Unless there is going to be an extension, I'm gonna have to miss this one. Why is it when you want to do something, things suddenly pop up all around to take up your time?! Hehe. Oh, well.

2006-10-04 [Cia_mar]: Voting now on mainstreet!!!!

2006-10-04 [moira hawthorne]: ooooh that was a tough choice...

2006-10-11 [moira hawthorne]: Wais Hail! to the two winners! and to everyone else to participating...

2006-10-11 [Morningstar Rising]: Congrats to the winners.
